This policy explains how War Column, a publishing brand owned by Grey Factory Pty Ltd, handles personal information in connection with warcolumn.com.

Information we collect

Website delivery and security

Our hosting and security provider, Cloudflare, may process technical information needed to deliver and protect the site. This may include IP address, browser and device information, request details, security signals, and server logs.

Email subscriptions

When you use the MailerLite signup form, we may collect your email address, name if requested, subscription preferences, and records showing when, where, and how you subscribed. MailerLite may also process technical information such as IP address and approximate location to operate the service, prevent abuse, and document consent.

Analytics

If you consent to analytics, Google Analytics may process information about visits and interactions, such as pages viewed, referral source, approximate location, browser or device information, and online identifiers. Google Analytics remains off unless you allow analytics through the site’s cookie choices.

Advertising

War Column does not currently use advertising pixels or advertising cookies. This policy will be updated before any advertising technology is enabled.

Retailer and audiobook links

The site links to third-party services, including Amazon-facing universal book links and Spotify. When you follow one of those links, the third party's privacy policy and practices apply. Purchases and payments take place with the applicable retailer, not on this website.

How we use information

We may use information to deliver and secure the website, respond to privacy requests, provide requested email communications, measure site and campaign performance, improve War Column content and marketing, prevent fraud or abuse, and comply with legal obligations.

Where applicable, we rely on consent for optional analytics and marketing email. We may rely on legitimate interests for proportionate security, administration, and service improvement, and on legal obligations where processing is required by law.

Cookies and consent choices

MailerLite email signup features are active. MailerLite’s universal form script loads only on the home page, where the signup form is provided, and may use form-related cookies or local storage. Google Analytics is active only after you allow analytics through the site’s cookie choices. Advertising tracking is not active. See the Cookie Policy for more information.

Service providers and disclosure

We may disclose information to service providers that help operate the site and communications, including Cloudflare for hosting and security, MailerLite for email subscriptions, and Google for consented analytics. These providers process information under their own terms and applicable data-protection arrangements.

We do not sell personal information.

International processing

War Column and its service providers may process information in Australia, the United States, the European Economic Area, or other countries where providers operate. Where required, appropriate contractual or legal safeguards will be used for international transfers.

Retention and security

Information is kept only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, legal requirements, dispute resolution, and security. Email subscription information is generally retained while you remain subscribed, with limited suppression records retained where needed to honor an unsubscribe request. Provider-controlled logs are retained according to applicable provider terms. Google Analytics identifiers created through this site are configured to expire after 60 days.

Reasonable administrative and technical measures are used to limit access, reduce unnecessary collection, and protect information. No online system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Your choices and rights

You can unsubscribe from marketing email at any time using the unsubscribe link in an email. You can also manage optional website technologies through Cookie choices and use recognized browser privacy signals where supported.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection, or to withdraw consent. These rights may be subject to legal limitations. You may also have the right to complain to a privacy or data-protection regulator.

Children

This website is not directed to children under 16, and War Column does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the website.
